Side-quest rewards land in the Ch1 economy; base activity picks heroes in two taps

2026-05-18

The two side quests that landed last week — Snake Medallion and Name the Dead — now actually pay you for finishing them, with rewards that fit into the chapter's broader spell economy. Snake Medallion unlocks Tara's Push sigil at the Snake Order aside; Name the Dead unlocks Nell's Burn sigil at the Halrock aftermath (Burn itself ships tomorrow). Both sit at a new tier-wide T1 effect-sigil price of 100c in their own school, which replaces the one-off Maya·Heal exception and makes the rest of the chapter's effect sigils predictable.

Name the Dead's climactic fight also got a proper boss: a new unique Velthorne (Fire mid) takes that slot, instead of the Fire Elemental that was previously double-booked against the Chapter 3 Temple Elemental.

Base activity popups switched to a two-step pick. Tapping a hero now selects them (excited portrait, bottom button morphs to "Do <activity> with <hero>") instead of firing the cutscene immediately. Single-select with deselect on retap, and the hero row uses the same 0.85/0.98 scale system as the party selector so the selected card no longer pops 1.15× and shoves its neighbours.

Two timing nits got cleaner. The Traveller merchant on Ormron Street now only activates after the Ochre Pits scene ends rather than firing too early, and the library and teahouse entry dialogues stopped double-firing — they now route through the same scene-start dialogue path everything else uses, so the entry-line plays exactly once.
